Since his graduation from Chiang-Mai University Medical School in 1989, Dr. Torsak pursued his continuing learning journeys until the accreditation as a first U.S. Institute for Functional Medicine certified practitioner (IFMCP) in Asia. He had a master’s degree in diet and nutrition toxicology and is currently pursuing active clinical research under the program of Doctor of Philosophy in Human Nutrition at Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand.
The extensive clinical experiences convinced Dr. Torsak that the conventional medical approach is best at helping patients with acute conditions, while it is less effective in treating chronic illnesses. Care for chronic conditions essentially requires an understanding of the long-term underlying pathophysiologic imbalances that lead to the current clinical presentations. These are commonly ignored by the regular practice of acute care medicine. With this approach, he has supervised the personalized lifestyle interventions for chronic illness patients around this region since 2003. He is one of the founders of the Thailand Institute for Functional Medicine and holding the position of Director of Medical Education until now. He is also the founder of BBH Hospital, the first functional medicine and rehabilitation center in Thailand. He is currently providing consultations to private hospitals in Bangkok and serving as a guest lecturer at several universities.
